Binge Eating Disorder
Binge eating disorder, formally referred to as compulsive overeating, is newly classified as an eating disorder since 2014.
SYMPTOMS/WARNING SIGNS
- Sense of lack of control while eating
- Binge eating episodes are marked by significant distress followed by shame, guilt and depression
- No compensatory behaviors are used after the binge episodes
- Eating large quantities of food
- Eating until uncomfortably full
- Weight gain/fluctuation
- Secretive eating
- Hiding food
- Low self-esteem
- Social isolation
